President-Elect (President Term 2010-2011) Dr. Yegan Pillay, PhD, LPCC-S Treasurer (Term, 2009-2011) My name is William Soto, MSEd, and I am a doctoral student in the Counselor Education program at Ohio University. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Masters degree in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton. At the University of Dayton I also served as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Psychology department where I taught an Interpersonal Relationships course, as well as co-taught a course in Abnormal Psychology. Currently at Ohio University I teach an upper level undergraduate class on Stress Management. My current interests include Sports Counseling & working with athletes on the psychological bases for injury as well as performance enhancement. In addition to this I am a proud member of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Honor Society, Ohio Latino Network, Ohio Counseling Association (OCA), the Ohio Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (OAMCD), and I am the Doctoral Intern for the Ohio Mental Health Counselors Association (OMHCA). I enjoy advocating for the counseling profession and have an interest in Hispanics in leadership across diverse domains of counseling as they relate to the enhancements of all underrepresented populations. I hope to become Treasurer of OAMCD this year so that I may continue to assist in the overall development of counselor awareness in critical multicultural issues. Secretary (Term 2009-2011)
Dr. Pillay teaches core counselor education courses with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Prior to his appointment as a faculty member Dr. Pillay held several appointments in the clinical field including being he principal psychologist at the Military Academy at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, the clinical director/therapist at a domestic violence shelter, and the director/assistant director of Disability Services at Ohio University. He is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor with supervisory designation in the state of Ohio and as a counseling psychologist with the Health Professionals Council in South Africa. He is a past president of the South East Ohio Counseling Association and served the Ohio Counseling Association as its professional development chair from 2006-2008. He is currently a member of the International Committee of the American Counseling Association. He serves the American Red Cross as a disaster mental health volunteer and is a member of the Ohio Trauma Response Corps. Dr. Pillay has an active research agenda and has presented papers at state, national and international conferences. He has authored book chapters, encyclopedia entries and contributed to refereed journals such as the Journal of Black Psychology, the International Journal of Hindu Studies, Journal of Creativity in Counseling and the Journal of Social Sciences. He is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Black Psychology, an associate editor of the Journal of Childhood in Africa and a member of the African Education Research Network. Dr. Pillay heads a HIV/AIDS in Africa education abroad program at Ohio University. He was the co-director of the George E. Hill Center for Counseling and Research and the director of Sex Offender Treatment from 2006-2009.

My name is Carey L. Busch, and I am currently in my second year of doctoral studies in Counselor Education at Ohio University. Prior to my doctoral career, I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry both at Ohio University. Currently, I serve as the Assistant Director of Disability Services at the Office of Institutional Equity at Ohio University. I have several years of experience in vocational rehabilitation with the Center of Vocational Alternatives as well as Vision and Vocational Services. The central nature of OAMCD’s mission brings great enthusiasm to the counseling profession, and as a member I am excited to be a part of this division and look forward to helping build upon the strong foundation of our past leadership!
